There is no doubt in my mind, London is my favorite place in the world. I do love Montreal, I wouldn’t see myself anywhere else long term, but there’s just something about London that immediately makes me feel at home.

Maybe it’s the peace of the hustle. The fact that there are so many foreigners there that no one really is a foreigner in the end. Maybe it’s the amazing history or the delicious food scene. Or maybe because most of the hotels in London feel so homey. I don’t know. When people ask me why I am so in awe with the UK, I just shrug and smile. Despite its downsides, I love it – simple as that ! So whenever I have a bit of a meltdown, I play with my phone a little bit and go through some of the shots I took. Without further ado, here’s a series of my best Instagram photos of London.

Brick Lane

Believe it or not, it actually took me a while to head to Brick Lane. I didn’t really get what the fuss was all about – I had a very good curryhouse right around the corner in Camden, so I didn’t see the need to go there. But during one of my visits last year, I decided to try it once and for all and I wasn’t disappointed. The whole area around Liverpool Street Station is bustling with energy, whether it’s the quirkiness of Shoreditch or the yummy aromas of Brick Lane (and yes, the curryhouses are indeed very good – and cheap!).

Portobello Road Market

That last one is a definite favorite of mine. I hold Portobello Market very dearly in my heart, for two reasons: first of all, because it’s a little piece of heaven filled with all kinds of treasures. Second of all and most importantly, I got engaged a few hours after visiting the market for the first time – my fiancé had been carrying the ring around all day, just waiting for the right moment to ask. So yes, very good memories there.

Pub life

There are few things in life I enjoy more than sitting at the pub after a day of walking around, and enjoying an icy apple cider with friends (and maybe a chip or two).

London holds a special place in my heart, not least because I lived there for a couple of years. It is one of the few cities I’ve really absolutely fallen in love – there is just so much to see and do, and so much history, and so much to explore. Great photos :D

  5. We don’t really use our iPhone as anything more than an alarm clock (oh, travel…), so I haven’t had a chance to get into the Instagram craze. But damn, I love the way the photos turn out! The one you have of the cameras is super cool; I’d hang that on my wall.
