When Tourisme Montréal offered me a night at Hotel le Crystal, I knew I was in for a treat.

I mean – downtown location, rooftop jacuzzi, modern suites and fine dining? I’m not sure what more one could want. And to top everything, it was my 1st wedding anniversary. The timing couldn’t have been better!

I got there after sundown, ready for a night on the town. But I was actually so impressed with my suite that I decided to stay in! The views over the Bell Center and the downtown area alone justify a cozy night in.

The suite

The executive, 780 m2 suite is very well designed – there’s a mini-kitchen, dining room, living room, large bathroom and bedroom. It’s actually bigger than my entire apartment! If someone were to book the room for several weeks, I could easily see bringing guests over without having the awkward feeling of inviting them into a hotel room – it actually feels very homey, and private.

The bedroom has a big closet, a bed that’s larger than it is longer, and who’s comfortable than anything I’d slept in before. It was HEAVEN-SENT. Also, loved the chocolates left on the pillow. I’m easy like that.

The bathroom is amazingly large, complete with a modern deep soaking tub, his & hers sink, Molton Brown toiletries and a rain shower. Definitely not shabby.

And then you have the open-area, which consists of the mini-kitchen, office desk, dining room and living room – everything that you need to feel at home away from home. Being a blogger I particularly enjoyed the reliable and free wifi, while my husband indulged on some Olympics watching on the flatscreen television.

The hotel

The rest of the hotel has a beautiful, modern lobby, a gym, a crystal chandelier clad restaurant called La Coupole, a high end spa and a rooftop hot tub with views over the city. Although my schedule didn’t allow me to fully enjoy these features, I can imagine just how great the experience must be.

I strongly recommend staying at Hotel Le Crystal (if your budget allows it), for many reasons, but mainly because it’s one of the few remaining hotels that really care about quality service, and offer incredible experiences in return. You will not be disappointed, I guarantee it!

I had never heard of this one, for work I have always stayed at the Fairmont or St. Germaine but I may have to try this one out.
